Think and Reflect
Class 6 English · Chapter 1: A Bottle of Dew · NCERT Poorvi section pp. 6–7
Learn
Why didn't Rama Natha give up? Even when people cheated him, he kept searching because he truly believed the potion existed. That same stubbornness later helped him: he kept collecting dew for six whole years.
What happened → the outcome: People promised to tell him about the potion → they cheated him and took his money. He spent a lot on his search → Madhumati worried they would become poor. He worked on his land → the plantation grew and earned gold.
Before and after meeting the sage: Before, Rama Natha ignored his fields and chased magic. After, he cleaned his fields, planted bananas, cared for them with his own hands, and worked even harder once he understood the sage's wisdom.
The sage's clever trick: asking for the dew to be collected "with your own hands" made sure Rama Natha stayed on his land every day. Madhumati also played a big part: she sold the bananas and saved the money. The story's message: hard work creates real wealth; there are no short cuts.
