Listen, Speak and Write
Class 6 English · Chapter 5: A Friend's Prayer · NCERT Poorvi section pp. 56–58
Learn
Listening (two friends outdoors): the book describes friends Ajay and Dhiraj: they play on the swings (Ajay loves the slide), walk in the park listening to birds, go cycling on Saturdays, eat ice-cream together, and sometimes buy a comic book to read together on a park bench.
Role-play 1: a walk in the park. Greet your friend, ask if they'd like to come to the park, and plan activities. If they say no, ask what they'd like to do instead and find something you both enjoy. End by saying you like spending time together.
Role-play 2: sharing tiffins. Greet each other, say what you've brought, ask what they've brought, and offer to share. Say how sharing makes you feel, praise their food ("Your poha is delicious!"), ask what other foods they like, and thank them.
Writing: how your friendship began. First list the answers to When? Where? How? Then write a short paragraph of about 80 words and give it a title. Example opening: "I met Sana on my first day in Class 3, when she offered me her extra pencil…" Explore: write an acrostic poem: one line about friends for each letter of F-R-I-E-N-D-S.
Explore: a polite tiffin-sharing chat, in order.
- Put the conversation in order.
Remember
- In a role-play, greet, ask, plan or share, express feelings, and thank.
- Plan writing with When? Where? How? before you write a paragraph.
