Learn

Role-play a parent and a child. Situation 1: coming home late after play (the parent is upset; the child explains politely and apologises). Situation 2: sharing details of the games you played (the child is excited; the parent asks with interest). Situation 3: bringing a new friend home (the child introduces; the parent welcomes).

Useful phrases: "I'm sorry I'm late, Maa. We lost track of time." "Guess what! We won the kho-kho match!" "Papa, this is Kabir, my new friend from Class 6." "Welcome, Kabir! Would you like some water?"

Writing: a paragraph about your playtime. Answer: What time do I go out to play? Who do I play with? What games do we play? Which is my favourite? What do we gain from playing together (fitness, friendship, teamwork, fun)? When do we finish and go home? Then add a title, like "Evenings in Our Lane".

Explore: indigenous games. Games native to a region are called indigenous games, like kho-kho, kabaddi, gilli-danda, lagori (seven stones), kanche (marbles) and pithoo. Find out a traditional game from your state, learn its rules, and play it with classmates under your teacher's guidance.
